Mayor’s Charity Ball in Llandovery
On Friday the 22nd April 2016 the Mayor of Llandovery, Cllr. Dorothy M. Burgess, held the Mayor’s Charity Ball. This was held in the Castle Hotel, Llandovery. After savouring a splendid meal, fun fundraising activities commenced which included ‘Heads & Tails’, the ‘envelope’ game and a Raffle; the special prizes were all locally sourced from businesses and individuals.
Eighty six people attended the Ball and as can be seen from the photographs all seemed to have had a wonderful time. The money raised for charity from the fundraising amounted to: £624.82, which is fantastic.
The Mayor (Dorothy Burgess) wishes to thank all those who supported her by attending the Ball; and to thank them all for their generosity and participating so fully in the fund raising activities. The Mayor’s Charity is: Llandovery Hospital League of Friends for the project of a ‘Wet Room & Palliative Care Room’ at Llandovery Cottage Hospital and also to the British Heart Foundation in memory of the Mayor’s brother Kenneth, who had a heart attack at the age of 35 years many years ago. Due to the improvements in medicine and in technology since then, people are now likely to go on to live full lives.
The Mayor would also like to thank the Castle Hotel for a delicious meal in their wonderfully presented function room; to Helene Lovell who presented the games and to Sandra Beard, Sally Griffiths, Jane Ryall & Kate Morgan who helped with the prizes and games.
After the meal we were entertained by the local rock group ‘Free Beer’ who were excellent. The Mayor wishes to thank them for their lively music.
